My graffe is so specil because I have had it since I was a baby.My graffe has lots of hair /2 arms/2 legs and they are really spotty.I have 2 little ones and 1 big one.I like toutching the because it is smoth.Its legs are very spotty and she has brown eyes.My skwish teddy is very funny.It has 2 eyes and 2 ears.My enagetic tonga is a fast graffe.

My special thing

My jersey is so old and the reason it is so special to me is becuse my dad got it for me when I went to Bankwood. My special Elephant

My special Elephant My elephant is special to me because I had an injury and my nan gave her to me.My injury started in auckland on christmas when I was about 2-3 1/2 years old. I was eating my penuts and one of them went up my nose well we were going to my nans house.I stoped breathing and I dont remember my sergery but I do remember the isue i got taken to the Auckland hospatial and I spent all christmas at the hospatial Thats how I got my SPECAIL elephant. My drum set is so shiny every time i look at it hurts my eyes .It is shiny and tuned just right. It has some history behind it. I'm pretty sure that it is older than my mom because it got given to me from a famous band called chicane and they told me it was 35 yers old. I love my drum set.

NRL seasons over :(

I am so sad that Nrl is over for the year and also Beau ryan has retired, but at least Beau ryan is still on THE FOOTY SHOW BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! I think. Im also sad that George Burgess is going to the England league, but at least the rest of the Burgess brothers are still in the Nrl.
Anyways, Im very happy that RABBITOHS WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and bulldogs lost! So to keep remembering NRL 2014 I listen to this crack up song by Beau Ryan and Justice crew! Chur!!!!!!!

Athletics in C4

The first week at school for term four has been a busy one. We have athletics this term. The big day is on the 5th of November and the students in C4 have been learning some athletic skills. We started with the 80 metre sprints. We then began to look at long jump. There was some impressive jumpers. Here are three students who really stood out. They have a very good technique that allows them to get distance in the long jump pit.

Understanding Time Zones

I have been doing a bit of research on how to understand why our world has different times depending which country we are in. It is to do with time zones. Some countries are in the same times zone. This video can get a little tricky to work out, but your parents may be able to help you as well as what we can learn in class.

The simple maths in this is that New Zealand, at the moment, is 11 hours ahead of London England. This means that when you start school at 9 am it would be 10 pm the night before. So if I want to Skype the class at 10am New Zealand time what time would it be in London?

 I have a Travel Buddy called Lexi. It is a girl. She often uses        her time to correct things or to make people happy. She makes  other people laugh. And also she has a funny friend Gracie.        Lexi has been my Travel Buddy for a few weeks. She has been    because Mr Talsma only took her out of the box Two Weeks        ago. Lexi left me a note that said, "I have been sitting in this        box for ages!! I need to be loved." Lexi Has a huge secret.            (She seriously hates running.)

Yesterday Deanwell school was lucky enough to have a travelling scientist from the University of Montana in USA. He shared a selection of interesting and exciting scientific phenomona, including the creation of some lava and a volcanic eruption. Hope you enjoyed it students. Deanwell School Fun Run

This year is no exception. Deanwell School has their annual school cross country on the 28th May. It is also a way of raising funds for our school. You will take home a sponsorship form to raise money. So when you run in the fun run you will also be raising money for our school. Start collecting sponsorships from family and friends. Meeting Kate

On Saturday I got up early to go to Cambridge to try and see the royals with my mum.There were already lots of people there.The night before we went to my nanas house because she still had some flowers in her garden.We picked some flowers and when we got back home my mum made them into a bokay. They looked so pretty.I was right behind the barier.We were waiting for five hours.Finally they came.First they went in the town hall to have some lunch.Then they went to see the old people.They only had about three minutes left to see people.Someone came up to me and lifted me over the barier to meet Kate.I was shaking when I went up to her.Kate bent down to my level to talk to me.She asked me what my name is,how old I am,thanked me for the flowers and asked what month and what day of the month my birthday was and guess what my birthday is? On their wedding anniversary,the 29th of April.It was awesome meeting the princess.I was so happy and my mum was crying happy cries.

Squash

On Friday some of the classes went to squash. It was right by the hospital. The ride didn't take that long. Well we went inside and the famous chairs!!!''  Oh my god I'm sitting on famous chairs!!! ''. Ok now just breath. Well we met an expert and I think her name was Lucy. Any way we went upstairs. They were small as I nearly tripped over '' Woh ''. Then we all looked at Lucy playing squash , she was amazing! She was like the most popular person I've ever met. There were other games like tennis and badminton. Badminton was really hard but, tennis wasn't. Tennis was so easy it wasn't hard at all, I didn't even need help. It was my turn playing squash. Georgia and I ran to each other and said '' me and you yes '' So we ran to court 1 and Lucy said '' GO ''! We started to play. '' Man I suck .'' But when I got the hang of it I was really good. It was the competition. '' YES '' I beat you''. But then it was the semi finals. It was me and Shaneille. I'm the winner I got seven and Shaneille got two. On the second round ,  Shaneille was winning. The timer stopped. ''OOH '' I lost. But oh well it was fun. We all grabbed our bag and we had to walk all the way to the lake for lunch. '' mmmmm '' my lunch was yum as. The river walk people came back to pick us up so we drove back to school. It was a great time at squash. Maybe I should go there another time, it was so much fun.

on Saturday it was my party and lots of my friends came over. The first to get to the party was Ollie while we waited we played minecraft 2 player.

When every one got to the party we played on the bouncy castle and the tramp. then  we had lunch. And guess what I did next? I opened up my presents. My favorite present was my air Jordan's.

Easter time Is all about Jesus When he had reserected. Jesus died for us because, he did not want the people he loved to die !! The Romans had arrived now. Jesus didn't know what to say !! He felt scared. The Romans were holding him. They threw him up on the cross and then nailed his hands and his feet upon the cross. They were standing there laughing until he had died. He was trying to live but then he suffocated. He suffocated by his stomach hanging down. They threw him off and dug him underground. They threw the dirt on top of him and then left. It was three years later. A lady called Carol, had found a hole and she said " Oh? What's this ?" She felt worried. She had seen a angel. "Who are you?" she said. It was Jesus, she said that this was amazing because she had never seen him before. Hello Carol, well here I am.

Kayaking

KAYAKING

On the 11th of March at deanwell school pool C4 are riding on the kayaks. There is an orange one and a green one. We are going  practicing on the kayaks for Lake Whakamauro. Any way I was the first to hop in one of the kayaks with Whetu when me and Whetu hoped on we started rowing all the way to the end and back. Tupu grabbed the camera and took a photo of me''don't take a photo of me''! Well we were waiting for another go. A minute later we all lined up in a boys line and a girls line when we got to go
again I thought we were going to tip over next minute Mr T pushed up the kayaks and we fell over. We all finished and had a race with Mr T he won but it was still fun. After a few minutes later we played Captions coming '' North, South, East, West '' man Mr T was fast at doing it '' hop out '' said Mr T so then we all got changed and went back to class. It was really fun hopping in the pool with Mr T I wish we could do it again that was the best day ever.

It happened at deanwell school grounds. C4 was at the pool. We were at the pool because we wanted to do and practice kayaking it was really fun. The time was quarter to ten school time. We where all splashing. Water was raising. We had to put life jackets on and then we had to jump onto the kayak. One person was in the front and one person on the back. Mr T was in the water helping. Once the people in the kayak finished Mr T would tip the people out. It was so funny watching everyone fall out. Shanae tried to stay on but finally Mr T got Shanae off. I saw it all. I felt the cold water surround me. I felt the life jacket lift me up. It felt like I was floating in air. The kayak felt hard. 

 I did jumping, rowing, racing, and having fun. I rowed down the pool back and fourth. I put a life jacket on. After I rowed back and fourth. I took the life jacket off. I swam and put my head under the water.


My favorite part out of all of that was being tipped off the boat. For my last turn on the kayak I kept my grip to try hold on. After a while Mr T flipped the boat over and I couldn't hold on eney longer. I let go my hand was so soar. Well that's the end.

Today we went kayaking in the deanwell school pool with Mr t. Before we went into the kayak we had to try balance the kayak on the ground. Then we had to get in the kayak with out tipping it. When I got in I had to lean the kayak opposite of Lee so he would not tip the kayak. I was at the front of the kayak so I got to row first. I was rowing to fast that I crashed into the end of the pool. 

Then we had another go but this time I was at the back so Lee went first. after that we got tipped out of the kayak. it was fun with Mr t in the water.

C4 kayak fun

Today C4 and I went to the pools in the morning at 09:00 am in the the school pool to go on the kayaks. It was a blast. We went on the kayaks and rowed 2 lengths while me and Tupu were taking photos and helping out. It was funny because when you finished Mr T would flip you over. But when he did it to Shanae she wouldn't let go. After that we had a play with Mr T then hopped out. It was the best pool day ever.

Multiplication times table

I noticed last week that a lot of you are still having trouble with knowing your basic multiplication facts. You need to just know this and know it quickly. It will help you with new strategies you are learning in our maths programme. Like multiplying bigger numbers like:

26 x 7

This equation can be broken down using your place value knowledge and your basic facts.

26 x 7  is the same as  (20 x 7) + (6 x 7)

That's because there is 20 groups of 7 and 6 groups of 7.

This is where your basic facts knowledge comes in handy.

If you know 10 x 7= 70 then 20 x 7 must be 140. That's because there are 20 groups of 7 not just 10 groups and 10 groups of 7 is half of 20 groups of 7 so 70 + 70=140

but we are not finished yet, that's only the first part. Don't forget the 6 groups of 7 or 6 x 7. Now you can use the multiplication times table chart found on the left hand side under "Practise your maths" or you just know that 6 x 7= 42.

Now you have to add them together    --   140+42= 182
